Happy New Year to all my Blog Readers:
This is my first blog in 2015. One of my resolutions is to try to write a new blog every 2 or three days. I hope to celebrate my 85th birthday on May 8 and I am busy with a new book.
My book, Polynesian Dreams that took approximately 5 years to write, most of it while living in Hawaii is selling but of course not as brisk as I would hope. I have been told that since it is possible for everybody to be a published author via E-book that currently there are one million nine hundred thousand titles available. Cook books, fiction, non-fiction, biographies and memoirs, like Polynesian Dreams, in short, every person has a book in him or her and now it is possible to have it published. A lot of titles are free or available for 99 cents. Polynesian Dreams sold for $14.95 in soft cover but since it sold out I decided to go the E-books route. So many folks have e-book readers, tablets of any kind plus laptops and notebooks that there is a wide audience. This blog is primarily to tell you about Polynesian Dreams. The book sells for $3,79 and since I am thankfully financially independent I donate my portion (about half) to my charities, Animal Shelters and The Wounded Warrior project. Late last year I received my first royalty check and I am waiting for the next one so I can keep my promise and donate it to those worthy charities.

My book is a memoir but much more. It is a tale of travel, adventure, romance and some Eastern religions. No, No, it i not a religious book. I was born on May 8, 1930 and 2 days after my birthday the German Army invaded Holland, the country of my birth. On my 15th birthday the war came to an end. I write about these terrible years. At 17 I joined the Dutch Royal Navy and sailed to the Dutch West Indies. Later I joined the Dutch Merchant Navy and traveled around the world. In November 1950 I immigrated to the US and on my birthday in 1951 I was sworn into as a member of the United States Army and served the next two years in Germany as a Military Police and later as a Criminal Investigator. All this are adventures in my book. After my service I managed to mess up my life royally. Only when I realized that I was on a path to destruction and decided to do something about it I regained my health, happiness, financial security and more. This is the inspirational part of book. There are not many folks who do not have some kind of addiction, it might be food, alcohol, drugs, sex bad behavior of other kinds and reading Polynesian Dreams and the way I overcame all of those addiction above might inspire others to follow my example.

I see this is getting pretty long. I will continue this in a few days. I wish everybody the best 2015 and I hope you will be inspired to read at least a few sample chapters on Amazon Kindle Barnes&Noble Nook, Ebooks, Kobo or the best one, WaveCloud. Write me about it, I welcome feedback. Remember the title, Polynesian Dreams by Johan Van Oldenbarneveld. Thanks for reading folks. The photo is of this old writer snapped on Christmas day 2014,
