Hello Blog Readers:

This blog is primarily written to promote my latest book, Polynesian Dreams,
by Johan Van Oldenbarneveld. Those who read my blog regularly know all about it but for newcomers I here is a brief synopsis. The book is written in a whimsical style and could be classified as an autobiography but it is much more. There are 351 pages and chronicle my life from growing up in war time Holland, my service in the Dutch Navy, Dutch Merchant Marines and coming to America and serving in the American Army during the Korean war period.
It follows the writer through his struggles with addictions, alcohol, amphetamines, gambling and yes, a sex addiction. However after financial ruin, physical and moral bankruptcy, the writer finds his true inner voice and after ignoring it for almost forty years starts to pay attention. The result is nothing but miraculous. Great financial abundance, robust health, happiness and true love become a reality.
The book has appeared in hard cover, now sold out, and is currently available on all the e-book exchanges such as Kindle, Nook, Kobo, E-books, Googlebooks, and more. It sells for $3.79 with my proceeds going to an Animal rescue and shelter in my area.
My difficulty is how to make the book stand out from the more than 2 million others available to read on your tablet, Ipad, smart phone or laptop. I believe in perseverance, I will not stop trying and my hope is that one day the book will fall into the hands of someone who not only enjoys reading it but is in a position to make it available to many. Success seldom comes overnight. Read stories about other writers, artists, actors and you find early struggles and disappointments. My book is a latecomer, I am now 85 but how can you write about your life until you have lived it? In my heart I know that the day of Polynesian Dreams will come true in my lifetime. You can help me by plunking down $3.79 and not only helping my dream become a reality but your contribution will help to find a happy home for some unfortunate feline or canine, found wandering in the streets. The book will not disappoint and is a genuine page turner according to the folks who read it and wrote me. It has controversial subjects in it and you are encouraged to keep an open mind. Thanks again and again for reading this and perhaps tell your friends about me. Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, Menifee, California

Aloha, Blog Readers:

This is an experiment. What kind? I made a short video by way of introducing myself. Perhaps it helps to know what a writer of the book you might be interested in looks and sound like. The amateur video was recorded on a GoPro camera that I held in my right hand, so it might be shaky.
I am not an author like James Patterson or Bill O'Reilly, writers who seems to crank out best sellers like sausages. I have written other books, all nonfiction and many magazine articles in photo and treasure hunting magazines.
I have written many times about my adventures and I will not do it on this blog. I will give a shout out to BookFuel.com, the company which put my masterpiece on all the E-book exchanges.
Polynesian Dreams, by Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, now on Kindle, Nook, Kobo, ebooks, Googlebooks and others. $3.79 with my portion going to a pet rescue and adoption shelter. Your $3.79 will get you 351 pages of a interesting albeit in many ways strange read and at the same time you help in getting a stray dog or cat a friendly home. Thanks again for reading and listening. Johan

Hallo Blog Readers:

When you have reached the ripe old age of 85 and still enjoy robust health you are a lucky fellow. I have reached that milestone and have my health. Almost each morning, my wife and I enjoy our breakfast in a nearby restaurant with 6 or more friends. We have done so for years and at my age I have many, many stories. I am a story teller by nature and my friends enjoy listening to me. I am telling you this because so many times over the years they have made comments such as: "Johan, you have had such an adventurous life, lived as a young teenager in Holland during the war, traveled the world over in the Dutch Navy and Dutch merchant marines, immigrated to America, served in the army as MP and criminal investigator, why do you not write a book about all that stuff.
I had written a couple of nonfiction books already plus had many nonfiction articles published in specialized magazines, but a book, an sort of autobiography, seemed like a daunting task. I finally decided to give it a go and low and behold, chapter after chapter appeared on my word processor.  I published the book in soft cover but after a few book signings and internet sales it sold out. Since the trend appeared to go in the e-book direction, I went to an e-book publisher, BookFuel, this company did a great job putting it on most of the e-book exchanges. Have sales been stellar? No! My problem is that there are more than 2 million,2,000,000, titles on the e-book shelves, how can I let my masterpiece stand out. This blog, twitter, FaceBook and videos where I chat about my Polynesian Dreams if the method I am using. There have been some sales since I started my promotions 2 weeks ago but I need help. Folks, the book, all 351 pages with photos, sells for $3.79, with my meager portion being donated to my favorite charity, Animal Friends of the Valley, where 5 years ago we adopted a lovely feline, our housemate Mieshe. Please help me with giving my book a go and thereby at the same time help our four footed friends find a home. Thanks again and again for your help. Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, Polynesian Dreams on Kindle, Nook, Kobo, WaveCloud, Googlebooks, E-books and more.

Hallo, Blog readers everywhere:

Hypothetical situation: You have a best friend, grammar school, high school, college, you have been buds. You find out that this best friend, male or female, is about to do something really stupid. What do you do? You talk to him or her and try to persuade him or her not to do it.
Real situation: Are you not your own best friend or you your own worst enemy?  Easy answer, you are your own best friend. Real answer, not always. You are about to do something incredibly stupid, it could lead to terrible consequences but did you listen to that little voice of your friend inside, NO, you went right ahead and popped that amphetamine pill, you had that extra drink too much, you did have that extra piece of pie, you did have that drag down fight, you did steal that money, fill in the rest, because why? You did not listen to your own best friend, that little voice inside of you. You listen to that voice of indulgence, that voice of least resistance, that loud overbearing voice of self gratification. Until you recognize your voice of reason, the voice that wants what is best for you, the voice that has your interest at heart, you will be stagnant in your growth, you will not have that life of abundance, that life of robust health, that life filled with happiness. How do I know all that. I have done that and been there. I did not listen to my inner voice for my first forty years. Result; misery, bankruptcy, physical ruin, moral bankruptcy. Finally at the end of my rope, I recognized that inner voice, calling and calling, this time I did not hang up but listen. Result; complete recovery, abundance financially, health and happiness.
How do I get in touch with that inner voice, is it difficult? Not difficult, but the easiest thing in the world. All you need is a quiet place, your bedroom, even your bathroom, a quiet bench in a park, a place under a tree in a grassy meadow, a spot overlooking the ocean or a river. Close your eyes and try to chase all the thoughts that constantly trying to drown out that voice away. You will hear that voice, heed its advise, listen carefully and your life will change. Meditate, there is never a wrong way to sit quiet and listen. The little voice was there always, did you hear it always, No, there are other voices, much louder and more demanding, more temporarily satisfying, more to your liking. You must choose, a life that was mapped out for you to be great, or a life that can lead to one disaster to another. Each time you come to a fork in the road of your life, listen to your best friend, yourself. This is my thought for today. Read more about it in my book,Polynesian Dreams. Now $3,79 with proceeds going to my Animal Shelter, on Kindle, Nook, WaveCloud, Kobo, ebooks, googlebooks, and more. Thanks for your attention, Polynesian Dream writer, Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, Menifee, California. www.polynesiandreams.com
