Aloha to all readers of my Polynesian Dream blog:
I must apologize for neglecting my blog. The reason? The Word Cup soccer tournament in Brazil. I played soccer as a young boy growing up in Holland and it always has been my favorite sport.  Yesterday, the match between Netherland and Mexico was a nail biter.
Tomorrow, United States plays against Belgium. I will be rooting for my adopted country.
If Netherland was to play United States in the finals I would be in a quandary but I be rooting for the United States.
Anyway, I soon be working full speed on promoting my book, Polynesian Dreams, now available in all the e-book sellers, Kindle, Nook, WaveCloud, Kobo, Ebooks and Google Book, price $8.50
Remember, all my net proceeds are donating to charity. According to my readers, this is a page burner. Click on a sample chapter, free of charge, gratis, nada dinero, and enjoy. Johan Van Oldenbarneveld.

I never get tired touting my book, Polynesian Dreams, because I wrote it as an inspiration for others. Who are the others? Everybody, people who just want to read a good tale of adventure, word travel, a bit of adult romance stories and the biography of a boy who grew up in war time Holland, came to America and what happened in his life. Also among the everybody that I like to read my book are those with addictions, with phobias, with doubts and those who like a cork in a bathtub float around without any purpose, without hope or goals to achieve.
I sure did not write it for profit, the book, available on on E-book exchanges cost $8.50, half of which is my proceeds and I donate this to charity. The book has only been on sale for 2 months and I have not yet received the figures for June. When I do receive some money from WaveCloud the company who helped me format the book in mobi and epub and put it on all exchanges, Kindle, Nook, Wave Cloud, Kobo and more, I send it to the Wounded Warrior Project and a local animal rescue center from which we adopted our adorable cat, Miesje. I close with a picture of that adorable creature. I think she is praying for my book to become a best seller. Thank you Mieshe and thank you all you readers of my blog. Johan Van Oldenbarneveld

.
Aloha, all my blog followers.
First again an ad for my Polynesian Dreams book. Now on all the e-book exchanges. $8.50 with my net proceeds going to Animal Rescue and Wounded Warriors. Do you like a good read while vacationing on a beach on on a lake shore. This might be the ticket, it is thought provoking but an exciting adventure of a young boy in occupied Holland. His world travels as a sailor and his coming to America. Johan, the writer, claims to be inspired by that small voice that is in all of us. Johan did not listen to this voice that tried each time to tell him right from wrong. The results were devastating but what happened when he did start to listen is what Johan is trying to tell the readers about.
Do you believe the Universe was created by accident or by intelligent design. Johan believe in the latter. He believes everything in the universe and perhaps in a twin universe is by design. If we listen to the voice of the designer, call him or it what you like, you have every chance of a life filled with love and success. Ignore that gossamer connection and you are taking chances you do not need to.
This is too small a place to explain it all but Polynesian Dreams explains it in detail.
This 351 page book is a page turner, you can hardly wait until the next chapter to find what is going to happen next to the native of The Netherlands and what happened when he came to America at the age of 20. His adventure in the American Army while stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany. How he each time he came to a fork in the road of his life, he managed to take the wrong one, leading to addiction, ruining his life and that of others around him Only once he connected again with the Creator of the Universe his ruined life took some fantastic turns.
Now I am going to watch the World Cup of soccer, a sport I played in Europe. Love, Johan, the writer of Polynesian Dream, you can read it on your Kindle, Nook, Tablet or laptop.

Let me get this out of the way! Polynesian Dreams, now on WaveCloud, Kindle, Nook, Google Book, Ebook and more.

Of course I would like to sell as many copies as possible, not for monetary gain because I donate my net proceeds to charity but because in my humble opinion this book could actually help persons who are fighting addictions. I do not mean the obvious such as alcohol or drugs but lesser ones as well, overeating, nicotine, sex, bad behavior and a  host of others that seem to control our lives. Several of the above mentioned had control over my life for years. When I reached rock bottom and the addictions had ruined my health, my financial well being  and my happiness, I found the way to fight back. This took place many years ago and thiswhy I wrote Polynesian Dreams and I also was more or less ordered me to write it. Who ordered me to write Polynesian Dreams is something you find out when you read the book.
Warning: Do not pay the $8.50 is you have a closed mind when it comes to not ever believing in miracles. I can't understand why you would not. The bible is filled with them. Not that my book is religious; not at all. Do not waste your money if you do not believe in the supernatural. Just examine that word, super and natural. Do not even read a free sample if your mind is closed to the idea that we might have been visited by beings from another planet, commonly referred to as aliens; I do not think is an apt description. Think about it, God lives in heaven, He is an Alien. Many however believe in Aliens and not exactly in the existence of G O D!
Let me pose this question? Did this happen to you? Did you ever think about a person who you met in your life, no matter how brief or long ago? Then one day, perhaps years later, this person suddenly popped up in your life; does this sound familiar?
This person could appear in your dream, and boom, you run into the person in person. It could be a situation out of your dream that became a sudden reality. Why did happen? Never even give Polynesian Dreams a look if you lack imagination. Save your money, buy a hamburger and a coke instead.
This is all for today! I believe in miracles. The big white aromatic flowers blooming on my cacti in my backyard, to me are a miracle. The bees swarming around them for their nectar is a miracle. All of life is miraculous to me. This was not always so. Look around you, miracles are all around you. Johan with love for life.

Aloha, all my blog readers:
I have not posted a new blog in the past 2 days because to be frank I am waiting to find out how much impact my blog has on the sale of my  book, Polynesian Dreams.
As I mentioned several times, writing a book takes stamina, dedication, some say talent but most important determination to finish what you started.
I know many folks who started writing but now have half finished manuscript somewhere in a desk drawer. You have to fail perhaps 50 or more times before you succeed, but I believe succeed you will if you  have the right amount of determination. Sure, a bit of writing flair helps, a bit of luck is fine as well, but the stick-to-it attitude is the most important ingredient.
Again, an often repeated story; Margaret Mitchell, was found to have dozens of unpublished novels complete with rejection slips in a box in her attic. True?
This story pertains not only to the writer of Gone with the Wind but to many writers who became super nova best sellers. I have no illusions about my book: Polynesian Dreams, but I do dream of selling a bunch of copies. Not for profit, it so happens that I am in the winter of my existence and financial independent. Therefor I donate the net proceeds to deserving charities.
My book is not only a tale of adventure, a bit of romance, drama, heartache and the biography of a person once hopefully addicted and who had lost all control over his destiny.
In Polynesian Dreams I write how I managed to battle the addiction and the result of those battles. People who read the book have contacted me and told me how they could not put the book down, wanting to get to the next chapter to see how and where I would screw up again, and later rejoiced with the victory I achieved. I am not giving away the meat of my story but I am asking you to connect with one of the E-book sellers and read a few free sample chapter for free. I think that there are many folks who would like to make changes in their life. The book tells you how managed to do this and if I, a ordinary human being , managed this, no reason in the world you could not also. I am going to wait until the various exchanges give me the sales figures before writing the next blog. Peace to all, Polynesian Dreams can now be read on any table, laptop, even on the your smart phone (I have not tried that), Johan Van Oldenbarneveld writer.

Okay, you have written a book. Big Deal! Well, perhaps not for you, but it is a  Big, Real Big (imitating Ed Sullivan) Deal. More than five years writing Polynesian Dreams, it took over my life for a while, it was a Big Deal. When you write about yourself, baring your soul, holding nothing back, hoping that it might help somebody one day to get rid of his or her addiction, whatever that may be.
I jumped in the air when it was first published by Pulsar, unfortunately, this company was a bit ahead and went out of business. Next I published it myself via Print on Demand (POD) but the library that had the Espresso printing machine stopped printing. Soon I had sold out off the POD copies and I started to look at E-book publishers, Kindle, Nook, Kobo, WaveCloud, Google Book and Ebook, soon on I-Tunes as well.
I found WaveCloud.com and for a reasonable price they converted my book in mobi and epub format, needed for E-book publishing and were able to put if in all the E-book stores.
My contact person was Justin and computer work was done by Emily. Thank you guys.
Is it selling, yes, but very slowly in spite of the fact that I am donating my net proceeds to charity, Animal Shelter and Wounded Warriors.
Please, read a few sample chapters for free, gratis, nada dinero, and if you like my style and want to know the rest of the story, (another t.v. show) forked over the $8.50 and enjoy reading the book on your tablet or laptop. Thanks in advance, Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, Writer, Polynesian Dreams

If you follow my blogs you must know by now that I have written a book that is now available on on the E-book seller sites. I try to write a blog every day but I would love to know how many actually read these blogs. I think of myself as a writer because it I have been writing ever since I was a young boy in my native Holland. Has Johan Van Oldenbarneveld ever been published?  Yes. Has Johan Van Oldenbarneveld ever been paid for something he had written? Yes.
If I had to depend on the money I made from my writing, I would do better sitting with a tin cup begging for coins on a street corner. Why do I write? I actually do not know how to answer this. Do I enjoy it? Yes, does it frustrate me sometime? I am frustrated right now because I do not know how to motivate people to at least read a few sample chapters of my book, Polynesian Dreams. If you have the answer to this, I would love to hear from you.
I took over 5 years to write my biography, I bared my soul, most important, I wrote about how I turned my upside down life around. There are millions of people whose have addictions that control their life; alcohol and drugs are obvious ones, but how about smoking, over eating, and yes, sex addiction, addicted to pornography is rife. If you would love to get rid of a behavior that have your in its grip, Polynesian Dreams might help you. This is the reason that I do not feel I can profit from my book. I donate my portion of the $8,50 the book cost to an animal shelter and to another worthy charity.E-books are becoming more popular and if I had to make a guess, I think that the children who now grow up with computers will probably never read a book that is printed on paper Is this good? Personally I love the feel and the smell of a book printed on paper but realistically E-books are the future. We have only scratched the surface. I am in awe of writers who write a best seller, or actors that become big stars, sports figures that excel in their sport. Do you need talent to write? Yes, but talent is not the only ingredient, hard work, a never give up attitude and probably many other factors go into writing. Margaret Michell, who wrote Gone with the Wind a mega best seller had a box of rejected manuscripts in her attic, many actors toiled for years in their craft because they hit the big time. Same with almost anybody who became a big success. I end this blog with friendly greetings to all of you. Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, writer.

Monday 6/9/2014.
Another day, another dollar, in my case another book sale. If you think that just because people are able to order your book for reading on their tablet or laptop, you are going to be disappointed. I see a lot of books selling for 99 cents, this sounds desperate to me. I refuse to sell something that I worked on, sweat over for less than $8.50. I am 84 and financial independent, my portion I donate to charity, those who sell their book for 99 cents get about 45 cents per book. I believe they, like me, want people to read their book. Nothing wrong with that, in fact, if there is anybody that cannot afford the $8.50 and I gladly send my manuscript in PDF and Word format via We Transfer to their email address. Just put your email address in the comments and the book, Polynesian Dreams if on its way.
Of course, I like you to order it via Amazon Kindle, Barnes&Noble Nook, WaveCloud.com, Ebooks, Google Book, Kobo or other exchanges. Again, I donate my approx. $4.00 to Animal Friends of the Valley and The Wounded Warrior Project. So far I have not received a red cent but the book has only been on one month. It is an inspirational tale, a pinch of sex, a dash of adventure, lots of insights, a little what the future will hold but a lot on how I managed to rid myself of some bad addiction and made myself whole again.
If you are having problems with a large variety of addictions that seem to be beyond your control, you might like to find out how I manage to heal myself.
I wrote about D-day in a previous blog. Here is a photo of yours truly and Captain Tom Glenn, USAF (ret) on Veteran's day at the George Patton Museum. Comments are very welcome.

First an add for my book Polynesian Dreams, now available on all E-book publishing sites, Amazon Kindle, Barnes&Noble Nook, WaveCloud.com, Kobo, Ebook, Google Book and more.
Now that we have that out of the way we can write about something that has nothing to do with book.
Yesterday, 6/7/2014 at the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, California, the museum paid tribute to the P-47 Thunderbolt and to the pilots that flew them in WW II. One of the pilots, Captain Tom Glenn, USAF (ret) is a personal friend and he gave a short account of his exploits in Europe during WW II. Five other pilots, none under 90 years of age also spoke of their experiences, 5 of them in Europe and one in the Pacific Theater. There also was one of the few remaining Thunderbolts on display and the plane later did a fly-over. I have a great deal of respect for those who flew in WW II and God bless them all. I was a young boy in my native Holland during WW II and give PowerPoint presentation to groups, aviation enthusiasts, senior citizens, at libraries etc. If you would like to receive this Powerpoin presentation, email me and I will send it to you via WeTransfer sans narration, of course.
I made a short video of yesterday's speeches and include it in this post.
If you like to have some inspired reading on your summer holiday, on your tablet at the beach or at a quiet summer cabin by the lake, I recommend my book, (of course) it will give you some thought provoking reading.
Good wishes to all writer, wannabe writers and blog friends the world over. Johan

WRITER! Who is a writer? If you write something that you want others to read, or even if you are a writer who writes for his or her own pleasure, you are a writer.
You should tell your mind that you are a writer. Your mind is powerful, if you tell it that you are a writer it will move mountains to make that so.
You might make your living being a food server, a administrative aide (fancy name for clerk), a mechanic, a baker, a candle stick maker, but do not tell your mind that. You take a chance that you will always be a candle stick maker. YOU ARE A WRITER!
When I was in the Royal Dutch Navy, you had a patch on your sleeve that indicated your job. We did have a category of writer in the Navy, the black patch had a red emblem of a quill. Your duties were administrative for the most part, your were pounding a typewriter rather than lifting an anchor.
I have such imaginary patch on my sleeve today, I am a writer. I did not make a living as a writer, instead for the main part I was a CEO of a large restaurant and fish wholesale business, I also was a computer consultant and owned a computer company. However, I always had a second batch of business cards that said, Johan Van Oldenbarneveld,Writer. I could said Author, but that in my mind is so pretentious. I have had that patch on my shoulder ever since before my teenage years. I grew up as only child, books were my friends, I read everything from the classics, to detective and yes, I admit it, romance stories. Jonathan Swift was no stranger to me, neither was Arthur Conan Doyle and the list is endless. I took creative writing classes in school. Did they help me? Yes. I learned about a formula, most books follow this formula and the more inventive you are, the less likely this formula shows up in your novel or story. Recently a good friend passes away. His widow asked me if I would like some DVD's her husband had recorded. Sure, I did but I did not count on about a hundred discs filled with mostly western movies. I watch every one of them and that formula I read about long ago came to mind. Each of the Western movies followed the formula religiously. In a subsequent blog I will describe the "formula" in detail. Ernest Hemingway knew the it, as does Grisham but you might have trouble finding it. Autobiographies are the exception, my book, Polynesian Dreams is an autobiography written in a whimsical style.  Read a sample chapter in of the e-book exchanges and you see what I mean. Love doing these blogs each day, just hope there are some readers. The End. Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, Writer.

Attention! Do not under any circumstances buy my book, Polynesian Dreams, do not even read a sample chapter that is available on Kindle, Nook, Kobo, WaveCloud, Google Book, Ebook and others if the following apply to you:
  • You do not believe in Miracles.
  • You have a closed mind regarding the possibilities of reincarnation.
  • You do not believe that "aliens" ever visited our earth.
  • You do not believe in the Supernatural.
Stop and think, the Bible is full of miracles.
More people on this earth believe in reincarnation then do not.
We pray to a God who is in Heaven. God is an Alien.
Break down the word Supernatural. 1. Super. 2. Natural.

If your mind is not closed and you believe in the above possibilities, than by all means go to the main e-book exchanges and give Polynesian Dreams a look. I believe you might enjoy it.

The e-book sells for $8.50 and because my adopted country has been good to me, I want to give something back. I do not want to profit and I am donating my net proceed to Animal Shelter and Wounded Warrior Project.
I also would appreciate your comments on this and some of my other Blogs.
Thank you in advance for giving this some thoughts. Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, Writer.

Another day, another blog. I wrote earlier that we lived in Hawaii, to be exact, in Honolulu in a highrise on Waikiki. I was elected to 3 two year terms to represent the good citizens of Waikiki in the Honolulu City Council. The photo below is where I am sworn in  by then Mayor Harris.
I wrote most of my book, Polynesian Dreams while living in Waikiki and Kona. I love the islands and we visited all of them except Lanai, the former so called Pineapple Island. I was also employed for the first four years of my retirement. I drove a tour bus for Polynesian Adventure Tours. This company had begun attracting a lot of German tourist and where looking for a German speaking tour bus driver. I applied and after training me in Hawaii history and driving a 54 passenger MCI bus I drove my passengers around the island for days every week. It was a good job but it got to be too much but it paid well and the passengers seem to enjoy my spiel, including some jokes and listening to me singing a German love song. (Yes Virginia, there are German love songs)
This blog is not all about Polynesian Dreams, now available on all E-book sites such as Kindle, Kobo, Nook, WaveCloud and the rest.
Yesterday I had the opportunity via Skype to speak with Justin and Emily at WaveCloud, and thank them for all the work they did on my book and for getting it in all the exchanges. WaveCloud.com will always get a mention because they have been so terrific. You can even email or talk with the owner, Bill van Orsdel, try to do this with Google or Microsoft. "Hi, can I speak with Bill Gates, please?" Good luck.
Tomorrow another nugget with yet another picture out of the old photo box. Aloha, Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, Writer, Bus Driver, Computer Consultant and retired CEO.

What now brown cow? Polynesian Dreams, now in all E-book stores, too approx. 5 years to write. Most of it in Hawaii in longhand in a thick blue notebook. I usually found a spot on a secluded beach-Yes there are secluded beaches on Oahu- and wrote page after page. After I came home, I transcribed my scribbles on my word processor. Sometimes I was surprised by what I had written. It was as if somebody had dictated the words to me; in a sense this was of course true. My spirit guide, Hendrik, put the ideas in my head. Often I would hike up Diamond Head, the volcanic mountain that was close to our little condo on Waikiki Beach. I would take a few steps from the beaten path, gaze over the ocean and start filling the pages of my notebook. Out of the blue the words came to me, the visions danced in my head and finally after edit after edit, I was done. Or was I? I cannot give away who ordered me at one time to write Polynesian Dreams, you have to find that out by reading the book, but I obeyed the command. Will I be ordered to write a sequel, sometimes I think I this will happen. Polynesian Dreams might cause you to cry, sometimes to laugh, but it will always be wanting to turn to the next chapter. The book is 351 pages and some folks have told me that it robbed them of their sleep. I know it has robbed me many nights of my sleep.
Last blog I wrote about how to motivate folks to buy Polynesian Dreams, this blog and entries in FaceBook and Twitter hopefully will do this. I am also giving lectures about WW II in my native Holland, and I do mention my book.

If there is any writer who wants to know how to get their work in the e-book exchanges, I will be happy to tell them my experience with WaveCloud and give them the name of my contact. As always, Aloha, happy and productive writing, Johan, Polynesian Dreams now on Kindle, Nook, Kobo, WaveCloud, Google Book, Ebooks and more. Below, Johan, Left with Captain USAF (ret)Tom Glenn, who wrote: The Bomber Boys, also on Kindle. He was a P-47 Thunderbolt pilot in WW II, fought in Belgium, France and Germany. Also in Korea and he is running out of room on his chest for more medals. Tom is 91 and a fine gentleman and friend. He is still suffering from war time injuries but he is always smiling and in good humor. The photo is by the General Patten museum, the unveiling of a brick in the wall with Tom's name on it. Patton's granddaughter spoke about her work in Europe with WW II victims.

Aloha:

Can somebody, anybody please answer this question. How can you motivate somebody to buy your book. In my case, Polynesian Dreams.
WaveCloud.com the folks who formatted my manuscript in mobi and epub format has monthly seminars, the last one dealt with an important part of this motivation; the description of your masterpiece. This is an important part of how to motivate people to part with the $8.50 and go to Kindle, Nook, Kobo, WaveCloud or any of the e-book sellers and type in your title, Polynesian Dreams in the search portion and after reading perhaps a sample chapter, to continue and buy the full version.
You need determination, in a previous blogs I wrote about the bell on the Navy Seals parade ground. Never, ring that bell, folks, It has only been a month since my book has been available via e-book. How many copies did I sell in that first month? I do not know yet but as soon as I receive the figures I will write them in my blog.
Here is proof that I was writing at an early age.

Description:
Polynesian Dreams is a stew with a large amount of adventures, a dash of peppery sex, a pinch of Eastern Tibetan philosophy, a big bunch of inspiration and once started you want to turn to the next chapter to find another adventure, another tragedy, another triumph, travel to another part of the world, find another insight. Once finished you will have a pleasant aftertaste from reading this book.
Visit any of the e-book exchanges and taste a sample of this delicious stew the cook, Johan Van Oldenbarneveld has prepared for you.
When you are finished you will understand why Johan is donating his share of the proceeds to his favorite charities. This book is different but I think you will find it richly rewarding. Follow Johan's daily blog. Johan is unpretentious, this is why he probably never calls himself: "Author" but sticks with just plain writer. This is what Johan is, a writer, ever since he was a young boy  in his native Holland, he has been stringing words together. He has published many articles, a book on how to play Texas Hold'em on the Internet and win, (now not legal but soon perhaps legal again).
I hope you give Polynesian Dreams a look and see. The response of those who did read his "masterpiece" has been great,
