If you follow my blogs you must know by now that I have written a book that is now available on on the E-book seller sites. I try to write a blog every day but I would love to know how many actually read these blogs. I think of myself as a writer because it I have been writing ever since I was a young boy in my native Holland. Has Johan Van Oldenbarneveld ever been published? Yes. Has Johan Van Oldenbarneveld ever been paid for something he had written? Yes.
If I had to depend on the money I made from my writing, I would do better sitting with a tin cup begging for coins on a street corner. Why do I write? I actually do not know how to answer this. Do I enjoy it? Yes, does it frustrate me sometime? I am frustrated right now because I do not know how to motivate people to at least read a few sample chapters of my book, Polynesian Dreams. If you have the answer to this, I would love to hear from you.
I took over 5 years to write my biography, I bared my soul, most important, I wrote about how I turned my upside down life around. There are millions of people whose have addictions that control their life; alcohol and drugs are obvious ones, but how about smoking, over eating, and yes, sex addiction, addicted to pornography is rife. If you would love to get rid of a behavior that have your in its grip, Polynesian Dreams might help you. This is the reason that I do not feel I can profit from my book. I donate my portion of the $8,50 the book cost to an animal shelter and to another worthy charity.E-books are becoming more popular and if I had to make a guess, I think that the children who now grow up with computers will probably never read a book that is printed on paper Is this good? Personally I love the feel and the smell of a book printed on paper but realistically E-books are the future. We have only scratched the surface. I am in awe of writers who write a best seller, or actors that become big stars, sports figures that excel in their sport. Do you need talent to write? Yes, but talent is not the only ingredient, hard work, a never give up attitude and probably many other factors go into writing. Margaret Michell, who wrote Gone with the Wind a mega best seller had a box of rejected manuscripts in her attic, many actors toiled for years in their craft because they hit the big time. Same with almost anybody who became a big success. I end this blog with friendly greetings to all of you. Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, writer.
