Another day, another blog. I wrote earlier that we lived in Hawaii, to be exact, in Honolulu in a highrise on Waikiki. I was elected to 3 two year terms to represent the good citizens of Waikiki in the Honolulu City Council. The photo below is where I am sworn in by then Mayor Harris.
I wrote most of my book, Polynesian Dreams while living in Waikiki and Kona. I love the islands and we visited all of them except Lanai, the former so called Pineapple Island. I was also employed for the first four years of my retirement. I drove a tour bus for Polynesian Adventure Tours. This company had begun attracting a lot of German tourist and where looking for a German speaking tour bus driver. I applied and after training me in Hawaii history and driving a 54 passenger MCI bus I drove my passengers around the island for days every week. It was a good job but it got to be too much but it paid well and the passengers seem to enjoy my spiel, including some jokes and listening to me singing a German love song. (Yes Virginia, there are German love songs)
This blog is not all about Polynesian Dreams, now available on all E-book sites such as Kindle, Kobo, Nook, WaveCloud and the rest.
Yesterday I had the opportunity via Skype to speak with Justin and Emily at WaveCloud, and thank them for all the work they did on my book and for getting it in all the exchanges. WaveCloud.com will always get a mention because they have been so terrific. You can even email or talk with the owner, Bill van Orsdel, try to do this with Google or Microsoft. "Hi, can I speak with Bill Gates, please?" Good luck.
Tomorrow another nugget with yet another picture out of the old photo box. Aloha, Johan Van Oldenbarneveld, Writer, Bus Driver, Computer Consultant and retired CEO.
199? Mayor Harris swears in Johan in Honolulu
