Aloha to all my blog friends:
Warning, this might be a long blog:
Those of you who have followed my blogs might have wondered why I stopped. Here is the reason. On October 28 I collapsed while in the shower. I was unable to get up, only after almost one hour I managed to crawl to the living room and my cell phone. I called a friend who had my garage door opener code and he called an ambulance. In the hospital I was only able to wiggle my toes, no use of my hands, legs, upper torso.  The neurologist suspected Guilliaume Barret syndrome and I also had walking  pneumonia. I had in ten days 4.5 liters fluid removed from my right lung, had surgery, a drainage tube, 3 unsuccessful attempts to take spinal fluid samples, 3 MRI's, 2 Cat scans, had to be fed, no control of my bodily functions, it was a mess. After about 4 weeks I could finally lift a plastic spoon and feed myself. I was transported by ambulance to Air Force Village West, skilled nursing facility for rehabilitation. First they had to lift me out of bed in a wheel chair to take me to the physical therapy room. There they told me each exercise was designed to wake up my muscles. My neurologist at one time had warned me that I might never walk again. To make a long story short, my rehab was a miracle. Each day I progressed a bit more, and after 3 1/2 weeks I was able to walk behind a four wheel walker and was discharged. I have a way to go but eventually hope to return to complete mobility.
My wife and I both needed to live in an assisted living complex and her two daughters called the movers, packed everything in boxes and we are now living in Brookdale, got www. Brookdale.com for details. It is like living on a cruise ship, excellent cuisine, amenities, friendly staff etc. My new address is: 28333 Valley Blvd., Menifee, CA 92586, phone 951 679-8372, email the same. Our Mieshe, feline housemate went with us. Question? Ask. I did a lot of praying to the Creator while in the hospital and yesterday, for the first time in 35 years I attended church, I credit my physical therapist but even they called my recovery a miracle. I guess I believe in miracles again. Thanks to all those who send me get well card. Here is my uneducated opinion for all my FaceBook friends:

I have been saying that Donald Trump had as much chance of becoming President of the United States as a snowball in hell. However I am beginning to change my mind a, using Obama's word, a smidgen. Why this change? Yesterday I had a visit from some friends I had not seen for some time, and who I knew were dyed in the wool democrats. One of the even came from Portland., Oregon, can you be more of a democrat?
To my astonishment they had nice things to say about The Donald.  I wondered if they would love to have him become the Republican candidate because he would be easy to beat or if this was genuine.
Look, Trump is not a Republican nor is he a Democrat. Donald is a Patriot and like many sees what is happening to this great country and is in a position, unlike many of us, to do something about it. This is why the establishment Republican party cabal have their panties in a knot. We had Dole, McCain and Romney, all members of the establishment and all went down in flames. The way he handled Senor Ramos was great to behold. This Univision anchor, an open border, let the poor unwashed, uneducated, criminal, hordes from all over the world pour over the border of arrive at airports with a visitor visa and then overstay their welcome advocate, He might have problems with deporting the millions of illegal's , (not undocumented). Mr. Rove, the Mr. Kochs, MSNBC, Mr. Will, New York Times and so many more, you can go right ahead with underestimating The Donald, insult him, but do so at your own peril. Trump is a guy who loves his country, who is political incorrect, (hurrah), who does not use a teleprompter to read speeches written by a clever guy or girl with a degree in political science from a Ivy League University. He says the things that people have long waited to hear. Will he be able to deliver. No,  but he will try like hell and he is definitely a great negotiator. It is a long way to Tipperarie or to November 2016. Right now Trump is beating all comers, special the darling of the Dole, McCain, Romney faction of the Grand Ol'  Party, emphasis on the Ol'.
Jeb! (duh) Bush. This is what keeps my 85 year old grey cells working. If you like to read some more of my brilliant prose, buy my book, $3.79 on Kindle, Nook, Kobo and more. The title: Polynesian Dreams. Proceeds to help my animal friends. Signing off with affection for all, brown, white, black, gay, straight, both, male, female, android, Johan Remember, All Lives Matter.

Aloha, FaceBook and Blog old and new friends:
What is an addiction. An addiction is something in your life you have no control over. The obvious addictions are alcohol and drugs, but there are many more. Overeating is a biggie, porno another, and I could make a long list. You know best when you are addicted, nicotine for instance, cannot stop smoking, you have an addiction. I am undertaking a vigorous campaign to promote my book, Polynsesian Dreams that chronicles my battles with my demon addiction and how I overcame them. I was down, physically, financially and morally, given up all hope of ever being able to recover when in a flash I received this great insight on how to do battle with what was ruining my life and eventually was able to declare victory and return to a life of health, prosperity and happiness.
This is what I share in Polynesian Dreams and in my way of thinking, if I, a very ordinary person, was able to do this, you can as well.
The soft cover edition of my book is sold out but it is now available on almost every electronic book seller, Amazon Kindle, Barnes&Noble Nook, Kobo in Canada, ebooks, google books and others. The grandiose price is $3,79 and my royalties are about $2.00 per. I am 85 and well situated and therefore am donating my share to my charity, a local animal rescue and adoption center. Not only is the book inspirational, it is also a fun read filled with adventure, romance, and describes how I survived WWII in my native Holland. I immigrated to the US in 1950 and served in the US Army from 51-53. In addition I served in the Royal Dutch Navy as a young 17 year old and sailed to many parts of the world in ships of the Dutch Merchant Navy.  If you have a habit you would just as soon get rid of, Polynesian Dreams could help you. If you are unable to afford $3.79, contact me and I be glad to send you the manuscript in PDF format. I am not doing this to make money, I am doing this because I was an addict and am now free to live my life as it was meant to be.
You can read sample chapters of the book for free on any of the e-book seller sites. Johan Van Oldenbarneveld

Dear Blog readers:

I am busy putting my 85 year old little grey cells to use in designing a new website to promote my book, Polynesian Dreams.

I use to work with FrontPage but my host, GoDaddy no longer updates changes and Microsoft no longer support this program. It waa about time to do something different. I am not advertizing GoDaddy but I liked their website builder. Even folks with less experience should be able to design an attractive site.

I am asking anybody who wants to give me advise on how I can improve on what I so far have accomplished to email me. I love to listen to advice and already have made many changes based on some of the advise of FaceBook friends.

Here is the link to my site:

Remember my book is on most all of the ebook exchanges for $3.79 and my net proceeds go to my local animal rescue and adoption agency. Thanks for looking

Aloha, everybody:
Mieshe, the feline candidate is on vacation on Martha's Vineyard, taking a break after an exhausting tour of the neighbors yards.
Here is something about my book,Polynesian Dreams, I have been neglecting promoting it because of my position as press secretary of Mieshe. I am also busy designing a new website: http://www.booktofightaddiction.com

Polynesian Dreams, an epic memoir, takes us around the world as we follow the story of Johan. Beginning in 1940 as a startled ten-year-old Johan witnesses the German invasion and destruction of his home in Holland, and continuing into the long adventures of his youth, Johan Van Oldenbarneveld’s is a tale that captivates, which draws his readers close. In 1950, Johan, now a young man, emigrates to the United States and is soon drafted into the Military Police. He is stationed for duty in Germany.

After his honorable discharge from the service, Johan’s life becomes a long and uncontrollable downward spiral of alcoholism, amphetamines, and bad behavior.

Bankrupted financially and morally, at the point of physical collapse—he finally asks himself what went wrong? Slowly, Johan fights his way back to health. He discovers that inner voice within himself, the voice within us all, which is the source of all the good in humanity.

Feline Chronicles for Wednesday 8/12/15

Hi everybody:

Now that Mieshe, our feline housemate is high in the polls, offers of donations have began pouring in.
Petco, Pet Smart, Purina, and Alpo have asked if they could donate to Mieshe's campaign. However, Mieshe has declined all offers since she has plans to chase all the lobbyists vultures out of DC. She knows that these folks want access and favors in return for their money.
Macy send her a rhinestone collar with the presidential seal, no string attached and she will wear it.
If she is elected she will swear her oath on a Dr. Seuss book, Cat in the hat.
She also received a soft oval pillow, again with the presidential seal from Nordstrom Department store. Felines, nap a lot, not really sound asleep, but always alert, unless the present occupant in the WH.
Mieshe's motto is, Making American Great and Purrfect again.
Please do not send her anymore cans of catfood or bags of treats or kibble.
She is advising Hillary to get in touch with Martha Steward to pick up some tips on how to get along in prison.
More in future press releases. Johan, campaign manager.
if you enjoy my whimsical writing visit one of the e-book exchanges and look Polynesian Dreams by Johan Van Oldenbarneveld

Feline Chronicles updated for all blog and facebook friends:

Our feline house mate, Mieshe, is running for the 2016 presidential elections.
If successful, the White House will become the Cat House, just as in the Clinton era.
Mieshe will have 2 Dobermans for her protection and a Saint Bernard to carry the Nuclear Football in a pouch around his neck.
PETA is endorsing her and also that of Marco, the blond retriever as her running mate.
Of course, Mieshe does not wear clothes but has a beautiful fur coat, approved by Peta.
Hillary always wore clothes in the White House and it is believed that nobody ever saw her naked, not even Bill, Web or Vince.
Joe Biden wore clothes but sometimes wanders around in the nude in front of his female secret service detail in the vice president residence.
Mieshe will not allow any more illegal Mexican Chihuanas to come across the border. All the illegal Chihuanas in the country will be put in large cages and transported back to their origin.
Dressing felines or canines in silly costumes for Halloween or any other occasion is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine and imprisonment.
There will be no monkeys allowed in the White House because of previous monkey business.
This is today's update about Mieshe's run for the White House.
Current standings, Mieshe 45%, followed by Donald Trump, the elephant in the room by 25%.
Mieshe's campaign slogan, Purr and Peace in the World and fresh water and enough kibble for everybody.
