Hallo Asspirant Writers and One and All:
The age of Electronic books is upon us and in my humble opinion will only grow and grow. Kids grow up with a baby rattle in one hand and a computer tablet in the other. When they grow up they will not know better and the print media will have shrunk much. Coffee table, Art and special editions will still be printed but most publication, including newspapers will be electronically produced. Although I live in California, I subscribe to the New York Post, it is the first thing I read on my I-Pad first thing in the morning. Even authors like Bill O'Reilly's books are available in E-Book format. Okay, you managed to have your book available on most E-book sites, Kindle, Nook Kobo, WaveCloud and more. Now what do you do? You do not think that people will flock to buy your book, just by reading the description (important as that is) or look at the title page and are so impressed that they immediately purchase your masterpiece? No, dear hearts and gentle people, it YOU, who must promote, make people aware of its availability, and how do you do this?
I wished I had all the answers but I don't know and I am open for suggestions. This is what I did so far. I printed business cards to hand out to anybody I met, even the waitress who served me my Alpo and eggs, just anyone who I thought might be remotely interested. I am writing this daily blog, will it help? I write on FaceBook and I tweet. I am almost resorting to hiring somebody to stay on the corner waving a sign, Buy Polynesian Dreams, A great book. I found out that those folks make $10.00 per hours, so that is out. I must wave my sign electronically. If you have an bright ideal how to advertise a book, I would be thankful if you let me know about it. As always, with admiration and respect to all my fellow writers (not authors, that is pretentious) from your fellow putting-words-together, Johan
